- ➤ Old Savannah City Mission (OSCM) hosts a Christmas party for those in need on Dec. 25 at its Bull Street venue. Children receive toys from 9 AM until noon, and guests enjoy a festive supper from 3 to 5 supported by generous donors. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ Tompkins High School Class of 1964 donated fifty $25 gift cards at its Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 13 and gave $500 to Second Harvest following its final class meeting — the cards will help families buy Christmas essentials. The Savannah Tribune
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire in a residential building on the 2200 block of E. Victory Drive displaced two adults and a child on Christmas Eve. Crews were dispatched at 8:22 a.m. and contained the fire to the kitchen area (the Oaks at Victory apartment complex) with no injuries reported. WJCL

- ➤ Historic Savannah Foundation will feature celebrated Gullah-Geechee chef & culinary historian Sallie Ann Robinson for a lecture on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy at 323 E. Broughton St, with a wine reception starting at 5:30 p.m. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ Telfair Museums will host a holiday matinee screening of '101 Dalmatians' at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Jepson Center (admission is free for members, $10 for non-members, $5 for children) as part of its film series featuring Glenn Close’s costume collection. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ The Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home will host a January Book Club on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 6 PM at 207 E. Charlton St. to discuss two celebrated Eudora Welty short stories with Savannah native Chris Beckmann moderating the discussion. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ James 'Jay' Jones (a respected community leader) has been named Executive Director of the Beach Institute African American Cultural Center and King-Tisdell Cottage, where he will guide strategic partnerships and cultural initiatives. He will work with the Board Chair to boost community engagement and support educational programs. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ Tickets for the Savannah Book Festival headliner sessions will go on sale January 9 for events starting February 5 in Historic Downtown Savannah. The Trustees Theatre hosts readings by Sean Dietrich, Brad Thor with Ward Larsen, and Leigh Bardugo, and Free Festival Saturday on February 7 is open to everyone. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ At Savannah State University’s fall 2025 commencement on December 12th, SSU President Dr. Jermaine Whirl honored graduating senior Katelyn Green with the President’s Second Mile Award for her leadership and community service, recognizing her work including leading a national voter registration drive as SGA president. - ➤ NAASC Savannah held a holiday event on Dec. 14 to bring alumnae and first-year student Skylar Scott together + support SCCPSS students facing homelessness. On Dec. 18, chapter leaders Cheri Dean and Carla Simmons delivered gift cards to the McKinney-Vento office to help provide essential resources. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ Curtis V. Cooper Primary Health Care hosted its inaugural Shepherd Serenade: Christmas Carols Under the Great White Tent on Sunday, Dec. 21 in Garden City, drawing over 100 local pastors and religious leaders for musical performances plus sweet treats. - ➤ Memorial Health offers holiday safety advice to help avoid falls and cooking and driving injuries on Christmas Day. The tips instruct families to use proper ladders when decorating, to drive carefully in busy traffic, and to check food labels for health reasons (such as low sodium) so celebrations stay safe.
