- ➤ Community leaders and local organizations hosted Holiday Safety Extravaganza on Saturday in Savannah to promote youth safety, mental health and family fun with gingerbread house decorating, crafts and a toy giveaway. Officials said the event (hot chocolate favored) provided practical support and a unifying message for underserved areas. WJCL

- ➤ Last-minute Christmas shoppers packed Tanger Outlets in Pooler on Sunday as holiday deals drew buyers with discounts up to 50% off, and manager Keli Reynolds noted shoppers returned to pre-pandemic levels — increasing foot traffic is expected in the coming days. WTOC 11
- ➤ The Greater Savannah Black Chamber of Commerce was awarded a $136,700 Small Business Revitalization Grant from the Georgia Coalition of Black Chambers during its Annual Black Business Excellence Gala on Dec. 11. - ➤ The Georgia Department of Natural Resources surveyed shrimp in St. Andrew's Sound on Dec. 21 to help decide whether to extend the season past Dec. 15. Local shrimpers, facing a 90% drop in licenses since 1975 and mounting import competition, await a decision. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division is set to conduct the final shrimp trawl of 2025 in Savannah to complete its coastal research - officials say the event will gather essential data. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ Tybee Island will launch projects in 2026, featuring $1M dune restoration for beach erosion, $20M beach nourishment, water and sewer upgrades with a new 60-inch pipe, and a new fire station with land purchased for $2.4M.
