- ➤ Community members gathered in Forsyth Park Wednesday to support Ashley Wasielewski, who suffered an acid attack last week (she has already undergone several surgeries) as residents united to reclaim the park and show their care. WTOC 11
- ➤ A Richmond Hill family faced a sudden hardship when the father was laid off on Nov. 7, but their spirits lifted after a surprise visit from 'Jared and Katie in the Morning' that brought gifts and gift cards. - ➤ Forsyth Park Fountain resumed operation Friday after months-long restoration and is now open to the public in the historic park. WTOC 11
- ➤ Guyton’s Penny Lane neighborhood is hosting Christmas light charity nights today (Dec. 20, 6 to 9 p.m.) and Dec. 24, showcasing over 100,000 lightbulbs on porches to raise funds for Camp Sunshine and CURE while offering hot chocolate, cookies, and Christmas movies. WTOC 11

- ➤ Savannah/Hilton Head International airport is preparing for a busy holiday travel rush by boosting operations & security measures to support more travelers during the festive season. WTOC 11
- ➤ Local bakeries in Savannah are easing holiday prep by offering a variety of treats including specialty pies, seasonal loaves, and even a Seven Fishes Stew for Christmas dinner. Preorders are accepted at shops like Sixby (in Thomas Square) and others, with pick-up dates ranging from Dec. 21 to Dec. 24. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ Georgia Power proposed a 747-MW combined-cycle unit at Plant McIntosh (15 miles north near the wildlife refuge) during a recent PSC hearing, and an expert warned it could be the most expensive unit in the nation + potentially raise local rates for decades. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ Earlier Wednesday, a mechanical problem at a sanitary sewer pumping station caused about 3,600 gallons of sewage to spill into Pipemaker's Canal near Dean Forest Road. City crews restored operations — starting repairs on the manhole to prevent similar issues. WTOC 11

- ➤ Ryan Murphy of Shamrock+ was re-elected as an At-Large Director by AIA Georgia members on Dec. 19, and he will help lead strategic planning and statewide programs for architects. Savannah Business Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Tybee Island's popular breakfast diner, The Breakfast Club (1500 Butler Avenue) got a 57 health score on Dec. 12 after scoring 95 on March 31. Health officials cited improper cooking times, absent hand soap, rodent droppings and partially moldy tortillas in the report. WTOC 11
- ➤ On Dec. 19, Healthy Savannah donated 75 copies of The Art of Breastfeeding to libraries and community groups in Savannah and Chatham County using a $2,480 mini-grant from La Leche League, with 45 copies delivered at the Bull Street branch of Live Oak Public Libraries on Dec. 9 and more to follow.
