  • A Savannah record store has introduced an innovative method to produce custom vinyl records, blending time-honored techniques with modern technology. The store plans to offer exclusive records for local music collectors — enhancing the city’s musical legacy.  WTOC 11
  • The Georgia Historical Society dedicated a new historical marker at Byrd’s Famous Cookies on Waters Avenue on Thursday to honor Byrd Cookie Company—a family business established in 1924 that has shaped Savannah’s economic and cultural life (celebrating a century of tradition).  WJCL

  • Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park is hosting a festive holiday lights display that began yesterday and continues to charm visitors. Families and neighbors can enjoy the sparkling installations throughout the holiday season.  WTOC 11
  • St. John's Church offers free tours of the Green-Meldrim House (once Sherman’s headquarters) with a living-history program 'Christmas in Wartime' on Dec. 26-28 from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitors can explore the home’s historic role during Christmas 1864 and enjoy festive holiday events.  Savannah Morning News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local students visited Georgia's first floating oyster farm on Nov. 21 to learn coastal ecology through the ECO program. The field trip included a pontoon boat ride and oyster dissections — activities that connected them to their local ecosystem.  The Current
  • Benedictine Military School held a remembrance ceremony on Friday, Dec. 5 and unveiled a Veterans Wall in its STEM wing to honor 800 alumni veterans including SSG George K. Gannam — the first Savannahian to fall in World War II. Data was collected over eight months from about 400 families.  WJCL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Most Social Security recipients receive one check following their scheduled dates. However, SSI beneficiaries in Georgia already received the December check on Dec. 1 (for December 2025) and will get a second check on Dec. 31 for January as they missed a November payment.  Savannah Morning News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, about 5,000 runners will compete in the 34th Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run on Hutchinson Island, with the 5K + Double Pump starting at 8 a.m. and the 10K at 8:30 a.m., while roads close from 7:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. amid uncertain Talmadge Bridge construction plans.  WTOC 11
