- ➤ WJCL and P.A.C.K. are hosting the annual Toys for Teens Drive to support local teenagers in need. The event is set for Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the P.A.C.K. facility — on Mall Terrace, just off Waters Avenue, with donations accepted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. WJCL
- ➤ Eastern Wharf is hosting free holiday events this December at 101 Port St. Families can enjoy holiday concerts on Thursdays at 6 p.m., Santa's Grotto open daily through Dec. 20 and Sundays with Santa on Dec. 7 and 14 from 3-5 p.m. while donating canned goods to Second Harvest. - ➤ Canady’s Heating, Air, Plumbing launched its sixth annual drive on Dec. 1 to collect new coats for kids age infant to 17. Drop-offs are at Belk at Oglethorpe Mall, Canady’s offices on Wilmington Island and Richmond Hill, with coats delivered to United Way on Jan. 6. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ Senior Citizens Inc. partners with Elizabeth on 37th and Executive Chef Kelly Yambor to deliver local flavors to homebound older adults through Meals on Wheels this quarter — including Red Rice, Five-Cheese Macaroni and Cheese and a Peach and Blueberry cobbler by Pastry Chef Carrie Van Gorder. - ➤ Mayor Van Johnson officiated a Proclamation Ceremony Tuesday in Johnson Square as Great Dane celebrated its 125th anniversary — marking over a century of local innovation — with a restored 1953 trailer serving as a mobile museum, and President Rick Mullininx noted the legacy built by generations of community partners. - ➤ Tybee Island kicked off its festive season on Dec. 3 when Santa arrived at the Info Hut for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting (co-led by Maggie Wright and Liz Hood). A mobile Info Vehicle served complimentary cake pops as residents and visitors celebrated the island's warm spirit. Savannah Chamber of Commerce
- ➤ Archaeologists are using ground-penetrating radar in Whitefield Square to search for human graves that may reveal an enslaved burial ground. The team will map the area in 3-D and report its findings to city officials by year-end (a step to honor Savannah’s past). WJCL
- ➤ ADMI celebrates the Kiah Museum’s 66th anniversary with a new exhibit honoring Virginia and Calvin Kiah’s legacy and the community’s effort to save the historic museum at SSU’s Asa H. Gordon Library—opened Nov. 7 and on display through Mar. 31. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ On Monday, Dec. 8 students from Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools will perform Lunchtime Serenades on the steps of Massie Heritage School at 207 E. Gordon Street. The musical series continues most weekdays until Friday, Dec. 19 and will move indoors with inclement weather. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ Savannah Technical College (Savannah Tech) and Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America marked their new apprenticeship partnership as seven students signed up for the Industrial Maintenance Systems Technology program to train three days on site and two days in class at $20.40 an hour before transitioning to full-time HMGMA roles next year. - ➤ A ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Dec. 2 marked the new partnership between EOA & Curtis V. Cooper Health Care at 618 Anderson Street. The center offers medical, dental & behavioral care every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and featured a Head Start performance. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ Andrea Howard, a Savannah resident, reunited recently with the EMTs who saved her life on June 1 after she felt severe heart attack symptoms and was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center. EMS staff received Great Save certificates — a life-saving reminder — that every second counts in emergencies. WJCL
- ➤ Healthy Savannah has continued funding of CDC’s five-year, $5.1 million REACH grant to promote nutrition, physical activity and breastfeeding support for minority residents in low-wealth neighborhoods. The grant also supports projects including the Truman Linear Park Trail and initiatives such as weekly healthy walks and the FaithWalk. The Savannah Tribune
