COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, the Old Savannah City Mission served warm meals and distributed clothing to hundreds amid federal cuts that threatened supplies—community members donated 100 turkeys in two days to help fill the gap. The mission will host a Thanksgiving meal from 3 to 5 p.m. to offer hot meals and winter items. WTOC 11
- ➤ Rincon community members raised funds to help a local child battling leukemia, easing the burden of treatment costs. Organizers say the drive will gather more support as the child continues treatment. WTOC 11
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum in Savannah shows an exhibit on Christmas traditions from 113 years ago using family diaries and old artifacts— the exhibit runs through Jan. 4 while the museum will be closed on Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas, and admission is $15. - ➤ The state Department of Education named 26 southeast Georgia schools as Literacy Leaders for their growth and achievement in reading. The honors cover elementary, middle and high schools (Bryan, Bulloch, Effingham, Chatham, Screven and Wayne Counties). WJCL
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah was named by WorldAtlas as Georgia's most snake-infested park, home to snakes ranging from eastern diamondback rattlesnakes to copperheads. The park will host 'Snakes of Skidaway' events at the Interpretive Center on Dec 1 and Dec 2 and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with free entry and a $5 parking fee. Savannah Morning News
