- ➤ As the federal shutdown continues and SNAP benefits remain disrupted, Origin Coffee Bar in Savannah is serving free meals with no questions asked—community donations have helped keep the program going. Co-owner Matt Higgins said the shop will continue to help until they go broke or until the government reopens. WJCL
- ➤ Today, the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office hosts a community event at 2005 Waters Ave. Suite 500 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to help residents clear criminal records & connect with legal aid for free expungement clinics, child support reform, and license reinstatement. - ➤ This Sunday, November 9th, the Community Connections Expo will be held at Tatemville Center at 333 Coleman St in Savannah — families and individuals will connect with local resources in health, education, career help and social support while receiving free non-perishable food and essential household items. - ➤ Oliver Maner LLP launched its donation drive to help Parker’s House at Union Mission—Savannah’s only shelter for homeless women—by collecting new, unopened essentials at 218 W. State St. from November 3 through November 28, with drop-offs available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. WJCL

- ➤ Heritage Days Celebration began yesterday at the Penn Center on St Helena Island to honor Gullah Geechee culture with nearly 20 events—such as a Family & Youth Day that started at 10 a.m. and a drumline competition—while the festival will continue through November 8 with a community parade on Saturday. - ➤ Today, Zach Martin opens his first art show at Richmond Hill City Center — 520 Cedar St. — where he displays original paintings, hand-illustrated cards and crafts with light refreshments and proceeds benefiting Two Black Dogs Foundation. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ A Savannah lottery player won $50,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing after matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball — the ticket was purchased at Chus Convenience on Johnny Mercer Blvd. The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday with an estimated jackpot of $467 million. WJCL

- ➤ Applications are now open for the 2026 Miss Savannah Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant, which offers over $6,000 in scholarships and provides leadership workshops, professional development, and cultural enrichment. The pageant—now in its third year—will hold its Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala in June and will accept applications until December 1 or until capacity is reached. WTOC 11
