  • SCAD Savannah Film Festival ended Saturday night after an eight-day event that brought many film stars and musicians to Savannah. Rian Johnson—director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi—and Georgia native Dakota Fanning attended the final red carpet event to inspire SCAD students.  WTOC 11
  • Port Wentworth hosted its first Gullah Geechee Festival Saturday, celebrating local culture with history storytelling and traditional cooking — organizers said the event will grow annually and featured a coat drive to help residents before winter arrives.  WTOC 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that regional gas prices in the Lower Atlantic rose slightly last week from $2.79 to $2.81 per gallon on Monday—despite a 6‑cent drop since last month—and remain 5% lower than a year ago.  Savannah Morning News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bella Napoli in Downtown Savannah has served 120 hot meals to TSA workers at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport during the government shutdown—owner Stephen Hamile said the restaurant will soon send ready-to-go meals for workers to take home.  WTOC 11
  • The City of Tybee Island cut off-season parking fees in half — from $4 to $2 per hour — starting November 1 through February 28 to attract winter visitors. The new rate appears at parking kiosks and on the Park TYB mobile app.  WTOC 11

SPORTS NEWS

  • No. 5 Georgia rallied past Florida 24—20 on Saturday in Jacksonville and extended its series winning streak to five. Quarterback Gunner Stockton threw two touchdown passes and running back Chauncey Bowens ran 36 yards for the go-ahead score as the Bulldogs won and will face Mississippi State next Saturday at noon ET.  WJCL
  • On Friday night, Savannah area high school football teams finished their regular seasons with key wins that set playoff paths—Effingham County beat Statesboro 42 to 41 in overtime, Calvary Day shut out Liberty County 41 to 0 to earn a playoff bye, and Savannah Christian lost 52 to 24 to Toombs County. Bethesda remained undefeated at 9 to 0 while other teams, including Savannah Country Day and Windsor Forest, advanced into playoff matchups.  Savannah Morning News
