- ➤ One year after Hurricane Helene hit Georgia, Robert Brown—a longtime Red Cross volunteer from Savannah—helped set up shelters in Camden County, Statesboro and Albany while also handling daily house fire emergencies. - ➤ The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is hosting its fourth annual Peace in the Park celebration this Sunday at Daffin Park in Savannah from 1 to 4 p.m.—the free event will offer live music, free face painting, wellness activities, food trucks, and an awards presentation for local peacebuilders. - ➤ A new museum called the Savannah Pirates and Treasure Museum is opening its doors Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the historic city, and it will feature interactive exhibits that display evidence of piracy from the National Archives, UGA library, and city records—offering a unique experience below the Prohibition Museum. - ➤ Savannah now has a secret underground dining spot called The Marsou Room—created by the Alligator Soul team—that offers a three-hour meal for 12 guests with unique dishes inspired by local swamp flavors. - ➤ Today Genesis and Genesis Inspiration Foundation donated $40,000 to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club in Savannah to support its science, technology, engineering, and arts programs. The donation will boost educational opportunities for local youth. Savannah Business Journal

- ➤ The National Weather Service predicted that tropical storm Imelda may reach hurricane strength early next week, bringing heavy rain, high winds and flooding along the coast. - ➤ One year after Hurricane Helene struck our area, 87 lives were lost and many buildings were damaged in Georgia and South Carolina. Communities continue to recover as neighbors rebuild and first responders cleared roads and debris during the storm—new roofs are now going up. WJCL

- ➤ Governor Brian P. Kemp and the Georgia Department of Economic Development announced in Savannah today that Georgia broke tourism records for the third consecutive year, drawing 174.2 million visitors and generating $45.2 billion in spending that saved households $1,285 in taxes.
