  • Animal shelters in Savannah are facing severe overcrowding as fewer adoptions and rising living costs force pet owners to give up their animals; Bryan County Animal Services held an adoption event Saturday featuring six dogs and one cat. Local managers urge spaying, neutering and fostering to ease shelter strain — a challenge matching a national trend.  WJCL
  • Renegade Paws Rescue received generous donations to repair storm damage and add needed features to its yard. The rescue upgraded the site with a grass space, play equipment, and a puppy pool—meant to make pets feel safer and help boost adoptions.  WTOC 11

  • Firefighters, first responders and other participants climbed the steps at Enmarket Arena—reenacting 110 flights from the World Trade Center—to honor those who died on 9/11/2001.  Savannah Morning News
  • Today, GHS is hosting a special Constitution Day exhibit showing Georgia’s role in America’s founding by featuring Abraham Baldwin’s annotated draft of the US Constitution—one of about 12 copies—and Revolutionary-era artifacts including a drum, a powder horn inscribed 'Don't tread on me', duel pistols and a map of the 1779 Siege of Savannah.  Savannah Business Journal
  • Club One in Savannah has run weekly drag shows for over forty years at one of the club’s three levels on Jefferson Street—its live performances continue to entertain local fans.  Savannah Morning News
  • The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum announced an October lecture series titled Monsters and Manuscripts that will explore history, horror and the occult with lectures examining Progressive Era society.   • A bridge maintenance project in Bryan County caused delays on I-95 North at Exit 87 starting Sept. 9, with three lanes shifting left and reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.—drivers are advised to slow down in the work zone.  Savannah Morning News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Health inspected restaurants in Chatham County from Sept. 3 to Sept. 9, 2025 and found that Wee Molly's Fish & Chips mobile unit in Savannah scored 88 after inspectors saw raw eggs stored improperly and food on the floor—while Etang Sav Noodle Inc. scored 75 after blocked sinks and raw meat near ready-to-eat foods were noted.  Savannah Morning News
