  • Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Chamber Business Expo and Business Connection on Sept. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at The Kehoe Ironworks Building—over 800 chamber members and local business partners will gather to showcase products and offer light bites.  Savannah Business Journal

  • On Thursday, Tharros Place partnered with Effingham County Community Connection to host a human trafficking awareness meeting in Savannah—discussing how poverty, port access, and highways like I-95 may increase risks while urging support for at-risk youth and victims.  WTOC 11

  • A new show, The Good Side, debuts Monday, Sept 15 on WTOC—featuring 30 minutes of uplifting news and feel-good stories told by local journalists. It airs at 1:30 a.m.—and viewers can stream it free on the WTOC+ app.  WTOC 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Regional Industry Support Enterprise held its Job Palooza on Thursday at Enmarket Arena for job seekers from its eight member counties and welcomed workers impacted by International Paper.  Savannah Morning News
  • An ICE raid at a Hyundai battery plant near Savannah detained over 300 South Korean workers last Thursday and sparked outrage over confusing visa rules that may hurt future US investment. The detained workers are arriving in Seoul today as South Korean officials ask the US to ease restrictions—raising concerns about the economic impact.  WJCL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Scientists identified a new fish species called Bartram’s Bass in the Savannah River system—research published in Zootaxa shows the fish has a turquoise crescent on its eye and lives in river habitats across South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. The study by state agencies and universities took decades and highlights the need to protect local waterways.  Savannah Morning News

  • The Dream Chasers Sickle Cell Foundation said it is preparing for its annual community walk—an event set to raise awareness of sickle cell disease. The walk will take place soon.  WTOC 11

  • On Sept. 11, Jenkins defeated Beach with a score of 63 to 14 to move to a record of three wins and one loss and will face Calvary Day on Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m.—Pierce County won against New Hampstead 39 to 14, dropping New Hampstead to one win and three losses.  WSAV
