- ➤ 912 Day brings the community together as Savannah celebrates its unique history and spirit with nine days of events starting with a kickball and fitness night at Daffin Park today and culminating with a family reunion festival at Wright Stadium on Sept. 13 — other events include a Coca-Cola pop-up on Sept. 4 and a Patriot run at Forsyth Park. - ➤ Today, residents and visitors in Savannah may join the 912 Day scavenger hunt, which runs through September 12 by following daily clues posted on social media and capturing selfies at local landmarks—participants using the official tags will earn entries for a grand prize raffle with the winner to be announced at a later 912 Day event. - ➤ Savannah Mayor Van Johnson has unveiled a nine-day 912 Day celebration that begins today with a family fitness night at Daffin Park—events include porch parties, a 5K run, a literacy session with the mayor, and a sold-out luncheon, and the festivities will culminate with a Family Reunion at Savannah State University’s Wright Stadium on Sept. 13. - ➤ The Savannah Area Chamber will host the Chamber Business Expo on September 25 at the Kehoe Iron Works Building from 3—7 p.m. The event will feature over 150 local vendors, live music and prizes to help build new business connections. Savannah Chamber of Commerce
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Savannah is set for a busy September as it prepares to host family-friendly events that celebrate diverse cultures. The city will hold the Fiesta Hispanic Latin Festival on September 26 in Port Wentworth—along with the Savannah Jazz Festival, Heritage Day Festival and events at Fort Pulaski National Monument and Lake Mayer Park—drawing locals and visitors to enjoy music, food and history. - ➤ This weekend, Savannah hosts many events including the inaugural Musical Theatre Festival at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center from Sept 5 to 7—where performers share readings and hold workshops. Arts Southeast’s first Friday reception on Sept 5, along with the 2nd Annual Soul and Flavor Food Truck Fest on Sept 6 and community markets on Sept 6 and 9, offer art, food and local fun. - ➤ Chatham Emergency Management Agency has unveiled its new hurricane evacuation plan for this season — the plan includes an agreement with Macon-Bibb County to shelter up to 3,000 residents. Residents without transportation will be bussed from the Enmarket Arena while pets will be sent to a shelter near Atlanta. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ SouthCoast Health today moved its Savannah Pediatrics office from Eisenhower Drive to a new location — 815 East 68th Street, Suite B — and patients began receiving care there yesterday.
