- ➤ Plans for a new gymnasium in Carver Village are moving forward with SPLOST funding available but still await City Council approval. If approved, the gym will link to the Community Center — serving local children and older residents with improved indoor space. WSAV

- ➤ Local businesses on Tybee Island are getting ready for Labor Day weekend by adding staff and stocking supplies for extra customers while fending off rainy weather. Farace’s Finest and The Kelpie expect a 10-20% rise in daily sales — their plans aim to serve visitors drawn by college football and holiday celebrations. WTOC 11
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Savannah law enforcement raided a property where they seized drugs, guns, money, and 13 dogs and arrested multiple people. WTOC 11
- ➤ Authorities are investigating after heavy law enforcement was seen at the intersection of Ogeechee Road and Gamble Road in Savannah this morning. Witnesses reported a body was found on the road around midnight, and sections of the road remain closed as police continue questioning locals. WSAV
- ➤ A Savannah firefighter is still seeking answers about the hit-and-run that killed his wife in May 2024 and has offered a $5,000 reward for anyone with firsthand details—hoping community help brings closure. WTOC 11
- ➤ Savannah Police said they are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that injured one man in the 10 block of Royal Inn Ct. at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday — no arrests have yet been made. WTOC 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia Department of Natural Resources announced that dove hunting season will start Sept. 6 and run through Oct. 12, with a daily limit of 15 birds from one-half hour before sunrise until sunset. A second season will occur Nov. 22–30 and a third Dec. 19–Jan. 31 — details are set for hunters in our area to follow these periods closely. WSAV
