ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Burton firefighters rescued a worker trapped 40 ft in the air—rescuers quickly brought him to safety.  WTOC 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • A 1902 German box car was received in Georgia on August 1 as a symbol of wartime sacrifice—its use to transport Allied prisoners during World War II has marked its historic role. It was moved on August 5 to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler and will be a centerpiece in an exhibit opening in late 2026/early 2027.  Savannah Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new report by the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System shows that student achievement improved last school year—officials say the findings will guide future curriculum and support programs.  WTOC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Blake Tillery will launch his campaign for Lieutenant Governor today with a news conference in Savannah — he will begin his statewide tour. Tillery was elected in 2016 to serve Georgia's 19th district covering parts of several counties.  WTOC 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • Healthy Savannah has planned a free screening of the documentary 'Chocolate Milk' for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 24th at the Student Union ballroom at Georgia Southern University's Armstrong Campus in Savannah—doors will open at 2:30 p.m. and a 45-minute discussion will follow to address low breastfeeding rates among Black women.  Savannah Business Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Today, Trilogy Investment Company acquired a 7.08-acre parcel on Hutchinson Island in the historic River District – the $9.835 million purchase will aid the expansion of its flagship community, The Isling at Savannah Harbor, with plans to add 57 new homesites.  Savannah Business Journal
