ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle around 11 p.m. on Tybee Island’s 11th Street near the beach — the Georgia State Patrol is investigating at the request of local police. WJCL
- ➤ At about 11 p.m. on August 3 a pedestrian died on Tybee Island after stepping from a car in front of a home and falling onto the road when a driver made a U-turn — Georgia State Patrol took over the investigation after rescuers attempted lifesaving measures. WTOC 11

- ➤ Statesboro police are seeking 43-year-old Christy Wilson, last seen on Coach Lee Hill Blvd in a blue nightgown + with her hair now purple, and ask anyone with information to contact Senior Detective Cross. WTOC 11

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools uses digital tools such as PowerSchool, BrightSpace — and Amira to support student learning and parent communication. The district increased parent engagement with PowerSchool after resolving a 2024 security breach and is piloting grade passback between PowerSchool and BrightSpace while updating Amira for enhanced K-3 literacy screening. - ➤ A Rincon family is searching for answers after their beloved pond suffered a large fish kill in May. Water runoff from a nearby construction site flowed into the pond on July 30 — raising suspicions of contamination. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ Residents in Savannah, Rincon, and Guyton won over $250,000 in lottery prizes last week, with one Savannah resident winning $50,000 on a Powerball ticket bought online and Rincon and Guyton players each earning $105,299 from Fantasy 5 tickets—other winners in the region received prizes up to $1,000,000 that help fund state education. - ➤ Savannah and Chatham County reactivated school zone speed cameras on August 4 to monitor drivers exceeding the 25 mph limit by 11 mph or more—fines start at $100.
