- ➤ Cliff McCurry, 77, a respected insurance executive and community friend—cherished by colleagues—died July 31 at his home. Funeral arrangements by Fox and Weeks state a memorial service will be held tomorrow at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with a reception to follow. Savannah Morning News
- ➤ On Saturday, the Greater Savannah Black Chamber of Commerce hosted its signature Black Business Expo to celebrate Black and minority owned businesses with over 50 vendors + local entrepreneurs networking. - ➤ Today the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is starting the year with new safety measures that include 68 officers, three new K9 units, and an active shooter simulation lab with first responders—measures that also require teachers to wear panic buttons under Rickie and Alyssa’s law and encourage parents to report concerns early. - ➤ Today, Savannah Technical College launches its Guaranteed Transfer Program to let students transfer 38 core courses (from TCSG to USG schools) as they work toward earning a bachelor’s degree.
