- ➤ Savannah native Flau’jae Johnson will host her Back to School Giveback Weekend at Enmarket Arena on July 25 and 26—offering free mammogram screenings on July 25 and a family festival with music, free food, and school supplies on July 26. The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship will host its annual back-to-school uniform giveaway for 1,000 students on Sunday, July 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 425 West Montgomery Cross Road and will offer free uniforms and school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis while community resource tables provide local support. - ➤ Union Mission will soon add a new Resource Center in the former Family Dollar building next to Parker's House a Home for Women after Parker’s Kitchen donated 1 million to help local homeless services, as announced yesterday. Renovations begin in September and the center, which will offer counselors, a barber shop, a laundry, a kitchen + day center services, will open in spring 2026 + extend its hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. WJCL

- ➤ Savannah police arrested Nyquan Small, 30, on Tuesday for his connection to the deadly Tatem Street shooting—he faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault. WJCL
- ➤ Effingham County deputies and Rincon Police ended a two-year auto theft investigation by uncovering a chop shop in the Picket Fences subdivision where eight stolen cars were recovered—Arthur Young, 49, was arrested on felony charges including theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a vehicle with an altered VIN. - ➤ A 19-year-old Savannah teen—Zaire Garner—was arrested on July 21st for his role in the February 13 murder of 20-year-old Anthony McBride during an armed robbery near the Woodlands apartments; authorities reported that 20-year-old Rashod Hamilton and 24-year-old Jaleeyah Bryant were also charged. - ➤ Tybee Island is facing more beach closures as erosion damages the shoreline — Mayor West said the Third Street entrance will likely close next. The city closed the 2nd Street entrance — and a $20 million beach renourishment program, mostly funded by the federal government, is expected to begin at the end of next year. WJCL

- ➤ State Representative Carl Gilliard hosted a road naming ceremony on July 17 at the A.E. Beach High Richard Mole Auditorium in Savannah to honor Coach Carl Middleton, Sr.—a coach with over 40 years of service whose name now marks a bridge on I-95 over the Ogeechee River. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ The Department of Public Health is offering free vision, hearing, dental and nutrition screenings at the Eisenhower clinic in Chatham County today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—helping students get ready for school as classes start in less than two weeks. WTOC 11
- ➤ The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is awarding a $50,000 grant to St. Joseph’s/Candler to expand breast cancer screening by offering mobile mammograms, early detection and health education for uninsured and under-insured women in Savannah.
