- ➤ 2Lt. Milton Leonard Hymes, Jr.—a Savannah native who died in a B-24J Liberator crash in WWII—is finally at rest 81 years later after his remains were identified and returned to his family. - ➤ A house fire on the 600 block of West 61st Street displaced two adults—firefighters controlled the blaze in about 15 minutes and the Red Cross is providing assistance. WTOC 11

- ➤ Savannah Police are searching for missing 12-year-old Erika Scott who was last seen at her home on the 1000 block of W. 53rd Street around 2 a.m. Saturday and they ask anyone with information to call 911. WTOC 11
- ➤ The Screven County Sheriff's Office announced that deputies arrested 20-year-old Theron Robbins—of Savannah—in connection with the Oglethorpe Mall shooting after a tip led them to find him hiding in a closet on Redfield Road, and he was wanted for aggravated assault and murder. WJCL
- ➤ Savannah Police are looking for a missing 10-year-old, Amira Green, who was last seen Friday, July 18th in the 500 block of Windsor Rd wearing black pants with a design and a black shirt with a design — anyone with information should call 911. WTOC 11

- ➤ Mosquito control teams in midtown Savannah, Hapeville, and northwest Atlanta detected West Nile Virus in mosquitoes and will treat affected areas with insecticide—officials urge residents to remove standing water and use repellent to lower the risk of infection. The Current
- ➤ On Saturday, Savannah opened cooling centers, pools, and splashpads at community centers and parks to help residents cope with extreme heat during a heat advisory from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Authorities also enforced equine tour restrictions—halting horse-drawn carriage operations when heat index values reached 110 degrees to protect the animals.
