- ➤ Today, Savannah will honor 2nd Lt. Milton Leonard Hymes Jr., a WWII navigator who vanished in combat 81 years ago and whose remains were identified using dental records and DNA analysis, with a procession at 9:30 a.m. plus a full military service at Bonaventure Cemetery where his family is buried. - ➤ A $489K federal appropriation helped Senior Citizens Inc. expand meal deliveries and support services across McIntosh, Camden and Glynn counties, adding over 300 seniors to its program. The nonprofit now has more than 400 seniors waiting for assistance—its future federal support remains uncertain as leaders hope the Older Americans Act stays intact. WJCL

- ➤ Today, the Eichholz Law Firm announced three scholarship recipients at its Savannah office — Mikel Taylor, Jade Simmons and Danielle Briscoe. Taylor earned a $2,500 scholarship for high school seniors for his community service and will study biology at Clark Atlanta University. Savannah Business Journal
- ➤ Savannah community groups will host several back-to-school events offering free school supplies + food, games, and giveaways, with events set for July 26 at Woodlawn Baptist Church and Bull Street Baptist Church, July 27 at Enmarket Arena and Forsyth Park, and a mobile drive on July 29 for hospitality workers. Additional events include a police bash on Aug 2, free haircuts and an expo on Aug 3, a health center event on Aug 9, and a fundraiser on Sept 12 + organizers advise early registration where needed.
