  • On July 8th, family members and city officials dedicated Annie Bell Graham Street at the corner of Essex and Second avenues to honor her 60 years of service in Tremont Park—over 130 local residents and five generations of her family attended the ceremony. This tribute celebrates the life of a woman known as the Mother of Tremont Park who spent nearly her entire life serving the community.  The Current

  • Marine veteran Buck Holly has opened Grounds and Rounds, a new indoor shooting range and retail store in Richmond Hill—featuring a coffee shop managed by his daughter and a large American flag displayed outside. The facility employs many veterans and aims to make shooting more welcoming to people of all backgrounds.  WJCL

  • Police in Southeast Georgia are searching for Alfonzo Deondre Tippins in connection with a deadly shooting that happened Friday on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard & East Lee Street, and anyone with information is asked to call the Metter Police at 912-685-5437.  WJCL

CULTURE NEWS

  • The historic chapel on Tybee Island, famous from The Last Song, has been renamed The Chapel by the Sea and remodeled as a wedding venue and event space. Its grand opening is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and will include a ribbon-cutting, guided tours, live entertainment, food, and activities for families (with one lucky couple set to win a free wedding) as it opens to the public.  WJCL
  • The 11th annual Savannah Comic Con kicked off Saturday at the Convention Center with thousands attending a family-friendly event featuring hundreds of vendors, cosplay contests, video games, wrestling, and special guests such as Debi Derryberry — known for voicing Jimmy Neutron and characters in popular films. The event continues today from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with interviews, panels, and more pop culture activities.  WJCL

  • The Savannah Police Department launched the Beyond the Badge camp to help young women aged 14 to 21 develop law enforcement skills and leadership—program coordinator Latoyia Daniels said the training focuses on self-preservation, self-awareness, and the ability to succeed in a male-dominated field.  WTOC 11
  • US Sen. Jon Ossoff addressed supporters at the Kehoe Iron Works on Saturday, July 12—he held his Rally for Our Republic to prime voters for his reelection bid ahead of the 2026 election.
