CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Chatham County District Attorney’s Office fired a victim advocate after an internal review found that she failed to inform victims—one of whom discovered on his own that suspect Brandon Collier had been released on bail. Collier is accused of multiple attacks in Savannah and is set to appear in court on July 17th. WTOC 11
- ➤ Savannah Police confirmed a fatal domestic shooting on Raybun Street on Monday — the shooting call came at 9:36 a.m. and resulted in two deaths with no current threat to public safety. WSAV
- ➤ Legal experts questioned felony murder charges for two juveniles after a woman died from a heart attack while fleeing a shooting at Oglethorpe Mall last week—veteran defense attorney Michael Schiavone said prosecutors must prove the shooting directly caused her death and that a grand jury will decide on further charges amid political pressure. - ➤ Two men pleaded guilty to making false statements in the fatal 2022 shooting of Mykel Price and received probation—Marquis Grant with six years and Malik Grant with five years—while a third suspect’s trial is postponed until September 19 at 9:30 a.m. WTOC 11

- ➤ Two weeks ago, Savannah’s Forsyth Park Fountain was taken apart and sent to an ironworks facility in Alexander City, Alabama for repair. Luke Robinson (marketing manager at Robinson Iron) said the fountain’s rust, damage, and worn statues will be fixed and returned to the city on schedule. WSAV

- ➤ A Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit that aimed to block the overhaul of Chatham Area Transit’s board, letting the county commission and chairman Chester Ellis keep their plan on track. The reorganization requires the nine-member board to be replaced by an 11-member panel by June 30 — a change approved by state lawmakers and signed by Gov. Brian Kemp. The Current
