  • At Fort Stewart on Friday night, over a thousand people enjoyed a free Salute to Summer concert—featuring Quavo, DJ Rock, and Chase Rice—where fireworks and music honored service members and brought the community together.  WJCL

CRIME NEWS

  • Savannah Police are searching for two missing teen girls—Asia Lampkin, 15, and Lael Porter, 14—who were last seen together at about 3 a.m. Friday on the 1700 block of New Castle St.  WJCL
  • Savannah Police reunited a child found unattended at Suds Laundromat on Skidaway Road early Friday morning — they had asked for public help to identify his parents.  WJCL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, a bright fireball streaked across Georgia's sky and was recorded by NASA when it traveled at 30,000 mph from above Oxford and broke apart 27 miles above West Forest. A rock fragment hit a house roof in Henry County, and officials are still reviewing the event — its mid-air energy release was equivalent to 20 tons of TNT.  Savannah Morning News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Savannah City Council approved a five-year strategic plan Monday that sets public safety as its top priority. The plan—known as Savannah GPS—will guide city decisions through 2030 and use real-time data dashboards to allow residents to track progress and provide feedback.  GPB News

  • St. Joseph’s/Candler celebrated 150 years of serving Savannah as the Sisters of Mercy took over a small hospital in 1875—anniversary events began on Friday, June 27 with a commemorative book and plans for future growth.
