COMMUNITY NEWS

  • WSAV mourned Kevin Brennan, the longtime News Director who led News 3 to multiple awards — including a Murrow, Emmy, AP and Peabody Award — over his 20-year career. His loss has deeply affected his colleagues and the Savannah news community.  WSAV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Large flames appeared near President St. bridge as emergency crews responded quickly to check the cause—local residents reported seeing the blaze and details remain unknown.  WTOC 11
  • Crews responded to a fire at a home on Pine Grove Drive Sunday morning in Chatham County that displaced two adults and four children—officials reported that multiple pets were rescued and asked drivers to avoid the area while the American Red Cross helped the residents.  WJCL
  • Early Sunday morning, the Savannah Fire Department responded to a residential fire with heavy flames on the 7000 block of Van Buren Ave and brought the blaze under control at 1:03 a.m.—the vacant home suffered no injuries or displacements.  WSAV

CRIME NEWS

  • Three men—24 year old Mikell Sanders, 29 year old Malik Grant and 24 year old Marquis Grant—are set to appear before Judge Karpf at 3 p.m. today on charges related to the November 2022 shooting at Winwood Place that claimed 31 year old Mykel Price's life, with a jury trial scheduled for July 7.  WTOC 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Daughters of Mary Magdalene and Savannah Building Futures hosted a Juneteenth event under a Savannah canopy with live music, food and vendors that celebrated African American unity and history. Organizers hope young people learn their past and find inspiration for future change — they plan to rename the park as Juneteenth Emancipation Park.  WSAV
