CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Savannah police responded on June 19 to two separate shooting incidents where at West Henry and Montgomery streets one man was seriously injured after treatment at Memorial Health University Medical Center and a man died, while minutes later a man was found dead at a residence on Gable Street (both shootings remain under investigation). Savannah Morning News
- ➤ Savannah Police confirmed that two adult men died & one was injured in separate shootings in the city; one incident on Montgomery & Henry Street left a man fatally shot while the injured are at Memorial Health University Medical Center, and another fatality occurred on Gable Street, with authorities urging anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020. - ➤ Homeowners in Chatham County have until July 21 to apply for the 2025 homestead exemption after House Bill 581 and Senate Bill 92 extended the April 1 deadline, and Savannah residents can also get the Stephens Day Exemption—visiting the Board of Assessors at 222 W. Oglethorpe Avenue with a driver’s license and car registration. WTOC 11
- ➤ Chatham County has proposed a two mill increase in property taxes for unincorporated areas—less than 20% of homeowners are expected to see a price hike as the funds will help cover rising fire department costs. The final public hearing is set for June 27 at 9:30 a.m. WSAV
