- ➤ The Leadership Savannah Graduate Series kicked off on June 17 at The Clyde Venue when United Way presented new 2025 ALICE data and hosted an interactive poverty simulation to show the economic challenges local families face. Retired Chief Justice Michael Boggs — now a partner at Hunter Maclean — and Dr. Jermaine Whirl were honored at a cocktail hour, and the series will continue with a Note to Self panel on Tuesday, September 17. - ➤ Today the Georgia Historical Society will dedicate a new historical marker for Rev. Ralph Mark Gilbert at the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum at 11 a.m.—the marker honors his role in Savannah’s civil rights movement and the event is open to the public and media. WSAV

- ➤ On Monday, a Savannah lottery player won $250,000 at Kroger at 5720 Ogeechee Road by using a $50,000 ticket with the Powerplay option—another player won $92,522 on June 12 playing Reef Riches via an app. WJCL
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Savannah Riverkeeper installed seven litter booms along city canals to trap floating trash and lessen the clogging of storm drains plus they will clean the traps once a month and add another boom near the Enmarket Arena soon. This effort aims to reduce single-use plastics and protect local wildlife as trash is regularly collected and analyzed. The Current

- ➤ Georgia Senate Bill 351—also known as the Protecting Georgia's Children on Social Media Act—goes into effect in two weeks and requires public websites with content harmful to minors to verify age using government IDs. Some adult websites, including Pornhub, say they may block Georgia users, which could drive residents to use VPNs to bypass the restrictions. Savannah Morning News
