- ➤ Savannah residents reviewed a 90-day walking tour pilot that set rules for tours by banning those south of Liberty Street after 10 p.m. and limiting groups to 30 people; during the trial, city officials observed 43 tours after 10 p.m. with three showing disruptive noise, and they are now reviewing their findings before announcing next steps. - ➤ Savannah Jazz will honor local jazz legend James Moody’s 100th birthday with a pre-party fundraiser at 45 Bistro — followed by an all-star concert at the Trustees Theater on Saturday, July 12 featuring saxophonist Bobby Watson and drummer Adam Nussbaum with the Savannah Jazz Orchestra. - ➤ Pooler native Tirzah Daniel graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy after four years of academic, physical, and military training, earning a Bachelor of Science in English, a minor in Japanese, and a commission as a U.S. Navy ensign—she is also an alumna of Savannah Arts Academy. - ➤ Jonathan Cephlia, a freshman at Savannah Early College, and homeschooled freshman Nkoy Mitchell won first place at the National African-American History Challenge in New Orleans at the 39th Annual Conference of the 100 Black Men of America. Their win earned a $3,000 scholarship and they were guided by Coach Jonatcha Rich Winbush of the Beach Institute — a proud achievement for Savannah youth. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ GDOT will close the Chatham Parkway bridge from 9 p.m. on June 20 until July 10 to allow contractors to raise the bridge over I-16, and I-16 lanes will be closed overnight from June 20 to June 24. Motorists will face restricted turn movements on Chatham Parkway—detour routes are posted—so they should plan extra travel time. WTOC 11
- ➤ Chatham Area Transit Authority hosted a public celebration on June 5th to welcome the nation’s first waterjet hybrid Savannah Belles Ferries—Juliette Gordon Low II and Susie King Taylor II—with events starting at City Hall Landing and ending at the Convention Center. Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark completed seawall repairs and introduce the ferries featuring BAE Systems’ advanced electric propulsion system for a smoother, more sustainable ride.
