- ➤ The Georgia Dad Tribe—the first Georgia chapter of Lonestar Dads—was created by Savannah dad Michael Ramsay in April to unite more than 300 fathers from Bulloch, Effingham, Chatham, and Liberty counties ahead of Father's Day. As Men's Mental Health Awareness Month continues, the group donates a dollar for every new member to mental health charities. WJCL
- ➤ On June 8, 2025, several Savannah residents gathered near downtown to protest violence against immigrants—calling for local leaders to improve safety—and urging community support for affected neighbors. WTOC 11
- ➤ On Sunday, downtown protesters in Savannah gathered to contest federal actions after violent immigration raids in Los Angeles—local organizers said the protest aimed to keep the community informed and uphold First Amendment rights despite one isolated incident of violence that led police to detain a participant. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Savannah police responded last Sunday to a SWAT call at the Comfort Inn when a hotel fight led three workers to pull a gun—officers arrested Alexander Blanco-Medina and Jean Nieves-Ortiz and later completed a long search by arresting Yeiker Luis Arevalo Hernandez at 10 a.m. Monday. WJCL
