- ➤ A civil trial began Tuesday at the new Gadsden courthouse over the 2017 murder of Eliud Montoya in Garden City as his family sued Davey Tree Expert Company for its alleged role in a murder-for-hire plot (following a 2023 DOJ settlement). WTOC 11

- ➤ City officials and contractors updated Project DeRenne, a nearly 20-year-old, $100 million road plan designed to reroute traffic from Derenne Ave to White Bluff, citing delays in environmental clearance. They said final permits have been pushed to 2029—while a short-term lane expansion will start next summer—aiming to improve safety and flow for the 63,000 vehicles that use the road daily. WTOC 11

- ➤ The FDA upgraded a recall of tomatoes sold by H & C Farms and warned that eating them could lead to serious health issues or death. The recalled tomatoes were packaged and sold to wholesalers in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina from April 23 to 28. WJCL

- ➤ Organizers confirmed that the Savannah Bridge Run will return in 2025 with a Dec. 6 race offering a 5K, 10K and 15K challenge after delays with the Talmadge Bridge project.
