  • Virginia Transformer began expanding its Georgia Transformer manufacturing facility in Rincon after holding a groundbreaking ceremony a few weeks ago; construction teams are actively working on the project with completion expected in March.  Savannah Business Journal

  • Beneath the Moss, a podcast series in collaboration with the Historic Savannah Foundation, explains how preserving old buildings helped shape Savannah’s tourism industry.   • Graduates celebrated their high school completion at Savannah High's School of Liberal Studies commencement ceremony yesterday at Enmarket Arena (featuring speeches, recognition, and proud families). ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wildfire activity in South Georgia slowed with eight new blazes burning 32 acres+on Wednesday, state forestry officials said while planning weekly updates. The Highway 82 and Pineland Road fires remain 90% contained but are expected to persist until significant rain arrives.  Savannah Morning News

  • Richmond Hill will host a free Memorial Day ceremony honoring fallen service members at 11 a.m. Monday at J.F. Gregory Park — Effingham County will hold a similar tribute at 11 a.m. in Rincon at Veterans Park.  Savannah Morning News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Memorial is hosting a free class to teach bleeding-control basics, including proper tourniquet use, with hands-on practice for participants. The event offers life-saving first-aid skills and a complimentary T-shirt, providing practical training for community members.  WTOC 11
