- ➤ On Friday, May 1, at Victory North, Savannah’s Got Talent raised a record-breaking $257,992 for Brightside Child & Family Advocacy— funds that will support programs for children in foster care and families in crisis, including Savannah CASA and Brighter Futures, with standout efforts from top performers. - ➤ At a local community event (held at a neighborhood center) this week, a Savannah funeral home manager urged young people to pick up books instead of guns to reduce youth violence. WTOC 11

- ➤ Historic Savannah Foundation launches the free 'The Seven Ladies' exhibit today at the Murray C. Perlman and Wayne C. Spear Preservation Center (323 East Broughton St.). - ➤ The 2026 Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala will take place Saturday, May 30 at 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Savannah, where community leaders and pageant contestants will be honored in a sold-out event (kicking off the Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival). The Savannah Tribune
- ➤ The Savannah African Art Museum will host its annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 201 E. 37th Street. - ➤ Local high school juniors and seniors can apply today for the Summer 500 paid work program connecting students with local employers in Savannah and Chatham County (students must be 16 or older). The program builds workplace skills and supports local business needs. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ Port Wentworth residents have reported that a white powder, first noticed decades ago near the former International Paper mill, continues to fall on homes; an independent lab found the substance mostly contains calcium carbonate (a lime mud byproduct) but its full makeup remains uncertain.
