- ➤ Hundreds of locals and visitors lined up to tour the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle when it docked on River Street this weekend. The vessel marked its first stop on a 106-day voyage along the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf of America. WTOC 11
- ➤ After Star Castle closed, local skaters claimed Lake Mayer as their new rink by gathering every Thursday night. They met on Thursday, May 7 to skate & dance despite rainy weather, keeping the skating tradition alive. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ Gulfstream today welcomed students & leaders at its Savannah headquarters to announce a $5 million investment in Georgia education that will fund new learning opportunities. Savannah Morning News
- ➤ Georgia Southern University will hold four Spring commencement ceremonies for 4,400 graduates starting today in Statesboro and Savannah. In Statesboro, two ceremonies are scheduled for today—one at 9 a.m. for undergraduates at Paulson Stadium and one at 6 p.m. for graduates—while ceremonies on Wednesday and Thursday will be live streamed. - ➤ Tybee Island reopened the 2nd Street and 19th Street crossovers ahead of beach season after sand buildup made the access safe. City officials said they do not know how long the crossovers will remain open (the DPW is working with the DNR on future plans). WTOC 11
- ➤ Kenneth Dennis became Chief of Police at Savannah Tech today and is rolling out body cameras and upgraded radios to boost campus safety.
