- ➤ Small Business Week 2025 is underway in Savannah as a series of events run from May 4 to 9 that celebrate local entrepreneurs and spur business growth—participants can join a kickoff press conference at 3 p.m. on May 6 and a Mayor’s Small Business Conference on May 7 with additional activities scheduled later in the week. - ➤ Officials from NOAA confirmed that a rare sperm whale, found very skinny on Hilton Head Island, had been unwell for weeks and will be euthanized so veterinarians can examine it—community members watched in shock and expressed deep sadness. WTOC 11

- ➤ State Representative Anne Allen Westbrook, Senator Derek Mallow, and Representative Edna Jackson will host a town hall meeting on May 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Sentient Bean at 13 E. - ➤ A new vision plan for Savannah’s waterfront was unveiled by the Savannah Waterfront Community Improvement District—nearly 50 improvements will boost connectivity with clear signage, reimagined parking areas turned into plazas or parks, and better lighting for historic buildings. The plan will also link broken segments of the riverwalk and create a gateway with an art gallery at Factor’s Walk to enhance navigation and appeal. Savannah Morning News
