ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash on Wednesday evening shut down Talmadge Bridge, but lanes reopened at 7:30 p.m. — Savannah Fire Department reported no injuries and advises drivers to take alternate routes. WJCL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three men were indicted on charges of malice murder — along with counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and firearm possession during a felony — in connection with a January shooting at a Pooler Amazon Fulfillment Center that left 21-year-old Keontae Grider dead after he was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. - ➤ The Savannah Police Department arrested Gary Washington (23) and Kadeem Grant (29) during a patrol of Kayton Homes today and seized drugs and multiple guns as part of its Violent Crimes Task Force. Savannah Business Journal

- ➤ Today, Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church celebrates its 114th anniversary with a service at 7:00 p.m. led by Rev. Romaine Bennett, Sr. Additional celebrations will continue on Friday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. with Bishop K. E. McNeal and on Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. - ➤ The Education Subcommittee and Board of Education met at Savannah Classical Academy on April 14 in a meeting led by Dr. Brenda Logan—members introduced themselves during icebreaker questions with Mayor Johnson offering encouraging words. The group planned two Pre-K workshops on reading skills and family relationships while Dr. Otis called for new enrollment strategies and asked that Dr. Denise Watts share resources by today. - ➤ On April 23rd, 2025, architects Christian Sottile and William Santiago unveiled the River Street Vision Plan for the Savannah Waterfront that includes upgrades to facades, signage, parking areas, and pedestrian bridges to improve connection between River Street, Factor's Walk, and Bay Street — improvements that are designed to enhance visitor flow and safety. The plan details specific work on lighting and wayfinding that will shape future renovations for the community — steps aimed at revitalizing a key public space. Savannah Morning News
- ➤ The Savannah Convention Center officially marked its expansion with a ribbon-cutting yesterday, nearly doubling its space to 660,000 square feet — including a new 40,000 square-foot ballroom — as Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and other officials celebrated the milestone.
