- ➤ Albert Lipsey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, died April 5 after a sudden illness at age 82 (he served in local banking and held key public positions) and is fondly remembered for his long service and faith. Family and friends honored his memory with a visitation at Adams Funeral Services and a Mass at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church. The Savannah Tribune

- ➤ A former Savannah public school employee, Tanis Hall, was indicted on two counts of theft by conversion for allegedly converting $18,000 in gift card funds to personal use—she resigned in February 2024 after 16 years with the district—and a bench warrant was issued following an investigation into reported discrepancies. - ➤ A district attorney who filed a temporary protective order against local attorney Boone Phillips has been placed on administrative leave after alleging that Phillips sent harassing emails starting in March — a hearing in the case is set for today. WTOC 11

- ➤ Melinda Stein, a local comedian and lecturer, told the story of her parents who survived the Holocaust after enduring Nazi cruelty in Europe. - ➤ Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols qualified for re-election today at 9 a.m. and highlighted his work on clean energy projects—he led initiatives like the solar net metering pilot to keep the power grid strong. - ➤ On April 18, local dignitaries, Chatham County employees and residents gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Eugene H. Gadsden Courthouse at 400 W. Oglethorpe Ave, built with funds approved by voters under SPLOST and forming part of the county judicial complex. Superior and State Court services will move into the 155,000 square foot facility by June—while the J. Tom Coleman Courthouse continues to serve Probate, Magistrate and Recorder’s Court functions.
