  • Savannah’s Shop & Stamp event will run from May 1-3, inviting locals downtown to visit 18 businesses and collect stamps for raffle prizes. Participants can pick up passport booklets with no purchase needed and turn them in to Sea Love Savannah or Savannah Taste Experience.  WJCL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire on Leeward Drive early Saturday morning in Chatham County destroyed one home, damaged two others, and displaced six people — though the Campbell family escaped unharmed and lost business equipment.  WTOC 11

  • Visit Savannah’s Jennifer Thompson traveled on a roadshow in Nashville, Atlanta, and Birmingham — connecting with more than 130 meeting planners to promote the city's meetings and conventions market.   • The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free hands-on workshop to help businesses learn how to meet federal contracting requirements with Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Air Field.   • A Guyton resident won a $1 million Georgia Lottery prize after buying a 50X The Money scratcher at Loves Travel Stop on Highway 21 South in Rincon on Monday (they chose a lump sum payout of $809,000).  WJCL
  • Locally Made Savannah closed on Broughton Street after supporting over 45 local makers, reflecting downtown shops struggling with high costs and low foot traffic. EDUCATION NEWS

  • This summer, Savannah businesses can sponsor a high school junior or senior for the Summer 500 program by funding an 8-week paid internship with a local nonprofit. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Savannah's Office of Sustainability will host its 26th annual Earth Day Festival from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 24, in Daffin Park.   • Gov. Brian Kemp issued a statement Tuesday, Apr. 21, saying he and his office are working with the Georgia Forestry Commission to address rising wildfire risks in South Georgia — with multiple large fires reported across the region.   • Caroline Boykin and Sarah Iocovozzi of the Savannah Sports Council attended the Georgia Southern University Sport Management Career Fair (Apr. 21) where they joined panels and met one-on-one with students to discuss sports career paths and volunteer roles.
