ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Savannah police say a child died after being found unresponsive in a pond at the MAA Benton apartments — the caretaker reported the child missing around 7 p.m. on Thursday as officers shut down roads to help the ambulance reach the hospital. WJCL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Savannah Police said on April 14th that Joshua Reddick was arrested by the U.S. Marshal Task Force in connection with the December 2023 double murder on Amaranth Avenue and Perth Street—he faces two counts of felony murder for killing 20-year-old Omarion Whitfield and 16-year-old Semaj Floyd, making him the third person charged in the case. - ➤ The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office+U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Jan Ortiz-Rolon on April 17 after he fled Jasper County following a March 5 arrest for fentanyl trafficking that led a search of his home to uncover cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine; he now faces additional charges and awaits extradition. - ➤ Larry Haywood — known as the Flag Man — died after being struck in a hit-and-run while riding his bicycle on April 9 at Skidaway Road and East 49th Street, and authorities are investigating the incident. Savannah Morning News
