  • A Savannah foundation launched Josephine’s Garden yesterday in downtown Savannah, creating a welcoming space for residents to gather + honor local heritage. The garden is designed to foster community connection and will host regular events.  WTOC 11
  • Hundreds of neighbors gather today at Clarence Morgan Gym for the 16th Annual Catie’s Gathering to honor Catie Wilkins and raise funds for CURE Childhood Cancer (supporting research and patient care with themed tables, auctions, raffles, and more) while continuing a cherished 16-year tradition.  WJCL
  • The Red Cross opened a new $1.5M operations center in Savannah on Friday, Apr. 17, in preparation for hurricane season & will enhance local emergency response during upcoming storms.  WTOC 11
  • Visitors have arrived early to Tybee Island as Crush Reloaded aims to draw tens of thousands over the upcoming weekend.   • Savannah State University formally invested Dr. Jermaine Whirl as its 15th president on Friday, marking his one-year milestone. He launched UPROAR 2030 to add five academic colleges and secure a $5 million gift, and alumni and Mayor Van Johnson honored him by declaring April 17 Dr. Whirl Day.  WTOC 11
  • Savannah State University held an official investiture ceremony on Friday, Apr. 17 at Tiger Arena as it welcomed its 15th President (Jermaine Whirl). University officials and city leaders attended the event in a formal celebration.  Savannah Morning News

  • The American Red Cross opened its newly renovated Southeast Georgia Operations Center on Friday — the revamped facility at 2500 E.   • Chatham County’s median home price fell to $320,000 in January from $335,345 in December, reflecting a 4.6% decline + single-family and condo prices also dropped, with recorded sales down 27.5% from January last year.  Savannah Morning News
