  • Joenelle Brown Gordon, a founding mother of 100 Black Men who championed civil rights and education, was honored on April 11 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church (1401 MLK Jr Blvd) in Savannah after passing away on April 3 at 84.  The Savannah Tribune
  • Rev. Arthur L. Kelley's second pastor anniversary celebration will take place on Sunday, Apr. 26 at 4:00 p.m. at Bolton Street, with Pastor Alan O’Neal leading the service (theme: 'An anointed Shepherd called and appointed for such a time as this') as the congregation renews its spiritual walk.  The Savannah Tribune

  • Savannah author K.J. Stewart released his new ghostly adventure novel, Hangers, blending supernatural mystery with local charm. He discussed the story and future projects during an interview Wednesday morning at WJCL 22 News — the book is now available on Amazon and at local bookstores.  WJCL
  • Shirley Ann Barber James received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at Spelman College’s Founders Day Convocation on Thursday, Apr. 9 at the historic Sisters Chapel, where she urged graduates to build a shared legacy. This event honored her decades of civic dedication.  The Savannah Tribune

  • Georgia public colleges will raise tuition by 1% for in-state students this fall + adjustments to fees at 13 schools will go into effect next semester. The change follows record enrollment and is the fourth increase in a decade.  Savannah Morning News
  • Savannah State University will host its 27th Annual Scholarship Gala on Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at the Savannah Convention Center (themed A Whole New Whirl) as part of Investiture Week honoring President Dr. Jermaine Whirl and supporting student scholarships with the introduction of the Student Awards of Excellence.  The Savannah Tribune

  • Georgia Chancellor Sonny Perdue announced Wednesday his plan to retire after a national search finds his successor, ending a four-decade career that boosted enrollment and lowered costs across the state's college system.  The Current
  • The City of Savannah designated Crush Reloaded Weekend as a 'Major Special Event' that will run from April 17 to 19 — enhanced public safety measures include increased law enforcement presence and temporary street closures along key City Market routes.  WTOC 11
  • The Savannah Chapter hosted a virtual legislative forum (Thursday, Apr. 9) where teen members engaged local leaders on youth justice, cost of living, and voting.
