  • Election for Bryan County School Board chair and district seats kicks off with early voting on April 27 and the primary on May 19. Candidates (including incumbent Amy Murphy) aim to enhance education for a growing community.  Savannah Morning News
  • Voters in the public school system will choose between incumbent Roger Moss and challenger Dionne Hoskins-Brown on May 19 as both candidates emphasize student literacy + operational improvements including better transportation and teacher support.  Savannah Morning News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tybee Island beaches lost 60% of their sand since 2020 — forcing the relocation of many loggerhead sea turtle nests as cancelled federal funds for renourishment have made nesting areas scarce. The Marine Science Center warns that nests may be placed closer together this summer, which could reduce hatch rates.  Savannah Morning News
