- ➤ Family Promise of the Costal Empire hosted the grand opening for two new transitional homes on Thursday at 10 a.m. on Cumming Street in Savannah. The fully furnished homes—built to help families facing housing insecurity—will see the first families move in this October. WTOC 11
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Savannah Police reported that a man was shot on the 2000 block of Fernwood Drive at 3:11 p.m. Monday and later the coroner identified the victim as 31-year-old Ahkeem Holmes—he died at the scene and an autopsy was scheduled—while no arrests have been made. WJCL
- ➤ On April 10 at about 2:30 p.m., Savannah Police arrested 29 year old Anthony Mitchell for auto theft after tracking a stolen 2022 Dodge RAM 1500 with Flock cameras while the vehicle was caught in heavy traffic on E. Victory Dr. heading toward Skidaway Rd. WTOC 11
- ➤ The Chatham County Coroner’s Office named Rasheen Adkins, 22, as the man fatally shot on the 800 block of Tatem Street Saturday night after officers responded to a shots fired call that also saw three children burst into flames—no arrests have been made. WJCL

- ➤ Effingham native Maddie Greer has been named Director of the Mars Theatre in Springfield and will take over on April 14. Greer, a University of Georgia graduate — known for her arts writing and volunteer work — plans to honor the theatre's legacy while expanding its role to connect the community. WJCL
- ➤ A film titled Redwood reverses the races in telling the story of Ahmaud Arbery’s 2020 murder and has angered his family. Marcus Arbery and manager Daren Gale called the twist appalling— and they are making their own film to present the true events. Savannah Morning News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, over 3,000 high schoolers from Georgia and nine other counties attend the Big Tide Summit at the Savannah Convention Center for career development, leadership workshops and one-on-one coaching. Students will meet industry leaders to learn about STEAM and trade fields while three participants will receive scholarships from the summit’s Go Big Career Fund—preparing them for college or a career after graduation. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dulany Industries said the Georgia Environmental Protection Division removed the SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex sites from the hazardous inventory on March 18—after a $38 million clean-up that covered 755 acres—and the remediation is expected to return the brownfield to productive use by creating new jobs and attracting further investment. The six-year project marks a major step forward for sustainable industrial development in Savannah. WSAV
