- ➤ The City of Savannah announced that a new community center will be built at 218 Windsor Road, the former Woody’s Skate Park, to serve as a public space for community activities and recreation. - ➤ Two adults and two children were taken to the hospital on Wednesday night after an apartment fire began in a kitchen at a building on Queen Ann Court in Savannah, and officials said five adults and four minors were displaced. WJCL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The World Meteorological Organization retired three hurricane names—Beryl, Helene, and Milton—after they caused severe damage during the 2024 season, with Helene bringing strong winds and power outages in Savannah and the Lowcountry. - ➤ On Wednesday, the Georgia Senate passed House Bill 397 and Senate Bill 214 that give the State Election Board new rulemaking powers and allow voters to request hand-marked paper ballots while pulling Georgia out of a multi-state voter database system—shifting the state away from a fully electronic voting process.
