- ➤ Housing Savannah Inc. will host its second annual Housing Summit on April 9 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Savannah Technical College’s Eckburg Auditorium to gather community input and seek affordable housing solutions—participants will pay a $10 registration fee that includes breakfast and lunch. - ➤ On April 1, the fourth Fort Stewart Soldier who went missing on March 25 was found dead near Pabradė in Lithuania during a mission to recover a submerged tactical vehicle—Army and allied forces are investigating the incident. Savannah Morning News

- ➤ Savannah man Victor McMillar (33) was convicted on federal charges linked to two murders in 2018 and will serve 20 years in prison after being acquitted in 2023. WTOC 11

- ➤ Georgia Southern University has chosen Avinandan Mukherjee, Ph.D. as its next provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs — he will begin on July 1. - ➤ Last Thursday, Savannah public schools honored three top educators at the inaugural Excellence in Education Gala featuring over 30 corporate sponsors. Teacher of the Year Jennifer Hughes, Instructional Support Person of the Year Jabari Hymon—who also celebrated his first wedding anniversary—and Principal of the Year Alfred McGuire were recognized as the event restructured its awards to boost staff retention and recruitment. - ➤ The City of Savannah launched the Community Advancement Leadership Institute Tuesday to offer more than 60 free and affordable training sessions and skill-building opportunities across the city. The first semester runs from April to August and the second will run from September to December with registration opening on August 1. WTOC 11
- ➤ Lt. Marcus Graves, a veteran officer who began his career with the Savannah Police Department in February 1994 and later joined the Chatham County Police Department on Feb. 1, passed away Monday night after a brief illness—funeral arrangements have not been announced. WJCL
- ➤ During a training exercise to repair an immobilized tactical vehicle in Lithuania on March 25th, four Fort Stewart soldiers lost their lives—local residents gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius and left flowers, candles and American flags in tribute. WJCL
- ➤ Mayor Van Johnson urged residents to prepare for hurricane season by checking emergency kits and purchasing supplies ahead of time—he noted that June 1 will mark the start of the season and stressed the importance of planning now.
