  • Twenty-two local leaders were honored at a scholarship brunch on March 30—part of Women’s History Month celebrations—and WSAV’s long-serving morning anchor Kim Gusby was recognized for her contributions to education and community engagement. City alderwoman-at-large Carol Bell delivered the keynote speech at the event.  WSAV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Savannah filmmaker Alex Yarber wrote a crime film script called A Low Country Crime Story inspired by his time working at a Tybee Island restaurant and it was recognized on The Black List’s Georgia List. He is seeking financing and local investment to produce the film — aiming to show a more authentic side of Savannah.  Savannah Morning News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Savannah-Chatham Public Schools held their inaugural Excellence in Education Gala at the Hyatt Regency Savannah—honoring Jennifer Hughes as 2026 Teacher of the Year, Jabari Hymon as Instructional Support Person of the Year, and Alfred McGuire as Principal of the Year from among 56 district programs. Hughes will now lead the Superintendent’s Professional Senate while Hymon and McGuire will represent the district at further education initiatives during the 2025–26 school year.  Savannah Morning News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After three of four Fort Stewart soldiers who went missing during a U.S.-led training exercise in Lithuania were found dead, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda turned to X to offer his condolences—officials said the search for the fourth soldier will continue.  WJCL
  • The Georgia Department of Transportation announced intermittent lane closures on I-16 and I-95 near the I-516 interchange will begin Monday morning, weather permitting, for widening and bridge work—drivers should expect both daytime and nighttime closures. GDOT said that phase two traffic changes will start mid-April with final configurations expected by summer.  WTOC 11
