- ➤ Hyundai announced plans at its new Ellabell plant in Bryan County to eventually boost production from 300,000 to 500,000 cars a year + the facility will need about 14,000 workers though only 1,200 currently work there. CEO José Muñoz said the new cars will be exempt from tariffs as local infrastructure projects progress. WTOC 11

- ➤ The U.S. Mint announced a new quarter that will honor Savannah native Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low in her 1920s uniform with a 'Thanks' badge on her heart; the coin joins four other trailblazers and will soon be available for purchase. WJCL

- ➤ A House panel approved Sen. Ed Setzler’s bill that would protect religious rights while letting local governments enforce their own anti-discrimination rules. The measure will be voted on by the full House before April 4—critics say it could allow discrimination while supporters claim it mirrors federal protections. The Current
- ➤ Georgia lawmakers passed a bill that will ban cell phones for about one million K–8 students during the school day and the measure awaits Governor Brian Kemp’s signature. If approved, school districts will decide how to store the phones and the ban will take effect statewide next summer—while some parents worry it may affect emergency communication. WJCL

- ➤ St. Joseph’s/Candler awarded nurse Celia Dequito with the 32nd Annual McAuley Award on Thursday afternoon for her selfless work during a January snowstorm. - ➤ Memorial Health announced plans on Wednesday to build a new five-story patient bed tower next to the main hospital building at its Waters Avenue campus in Midtown at a cost of $265 million—adding 90 beds, a six-story parking garage with over 1,000 spaces, and an updated cafeteria. Officials said the expansion will create hundreds of new jobs and that construction will finish in about three years after permitting is complete. WSAV
