  • Residents already enjoy biking & running on Savannah’s Truman Linear Park Trail Phase 2b while officials will hold a formal June ribbon cutting to celebrate the new outdoor route.  Savannah Morning News
  • The annual Ardsley Park–Chatham Crescent Tour of Homes and Gardens will let visitors explore curated historic residences and gardens in a cherished Savannah neighborhood, hosted by the local garden club with proceeds funding beautification efforts; advance ticket purchase is recommended after last year's sold-out event.  WJCL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A brush fire that began Friday evening on Sunny Drive in Chatham County has grown past 40 acres, causing widespread smoke that has led officials to urge westside residents to use alternate routes.  WTOC 11

  • Port Wentworth will welcome two Wawa convenience stores plus an Aldi grocery store as developer BrixWorx bought property off Augusta Avenue for $3.3 million. Mayor Tracy Saunders confirmed the projects will bring more affordable options to the Rice Creek area.  Savannah Morning News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Governor Brian Kemp approved a 60-day gas tax suspension to ease fuel cost pressure for drivers and local businesses, with Savannah Boathouse among those impacted, and experts expect about a 30-cent per gallon drop — though caution that rising global tensions mean relief may be partial.  WJCL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education seeks a new District 2 school board member after former representative Dionne Hoskins-Brown resigned to run for board president. Eligible applicants must submit materials by noon March 25 with public interviews scheduled for April 7 at the Whitney Administrative Complex at 11:30 a.m.  Savannah Morning News

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, March 22, the Savannah Ghost Pirates lost 3-0 to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in a playoff chase at home. Vinnie Purpura’s key saves kept the game close until a late surge by the visitors sealed the win.  WJCL
  • The 47th annual St. Patrick’s Regatta began Saturday on coastal waters near Savannah, featuring three boat classes and about 20 to 30 racers (sponsored by the Geechee Sailing Club) as the race continues today at 11 a.m. with prizes for top finishers.  WTOC 11
  • Ty Johnson, a 3-star offensive lineman from Lucy Beckham High School, committed to Georgia football on Saturday, March 21, following in his father's footsteps (a former Bulldogs player from 1996). He is the seventh commitment in his class and is rated No. 42 nationally.  Savannah Morning News
