- ➤ JLL’s Hotels and Hospitality Group announced the sale of the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa to Hersha Hotels and Resorts, a KSL portfolio company. The resort on Hutchinson Island and adjacent to the expanded convention center marks its third sale in 10 years as downtown’s only urban resort. WTOC 11
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Club One is relocating from 1 Jefferson Street to 301 Williamson Street where it will debut Savannah's first multi-level dance, show and entertainment complex. Farewell celebrations begin April 22 and the club will close its longtime location on April 27. WTOC 11
- ➤ A Savannah jeweler and SCAD alumna was selected for London Fashion Week to showcase her designs. The recognition highlights local talent and sets the stage for international exposure. WTOC 11
- ➤ Dr. Amy Williams, CEO of the Savannah Philharmonic, will leave in May to lead the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra & the organization will launch a national search for her successor. Board chair Daphne Nash said the group remains on solid ground with its ongoing community programming. WJCL
- ➤ On Feb. 15, the Golden Koi Lion Dance Association performed a traditional lion dance at Chùa Cát Tường Buddhist Temple in Garden City to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. The 16-member group, founded by high school and college students, trained for months to keep their cultural legacy alive. The Current

- ➤ Junior Leilanie Singleton from Woodville-Tompkins Technical & Career High School was named one of 21 statewide to receive the 2026 Georgia Youth Leadership Award for Emerging Leaders and will be honored on March 21 at Zoo Atlanta—she will also receive a $500 grant and mentorship from community leaders. - ➤ Savannah Indivisible will host a Data Center Town Hall on April 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Otis S. Johnson, Ph.D. Cultural Arts Center, where Georgia Public Service Commission members, data center experts, and elected officials will answer community questions about the ethical, economic + environmental impact of data centers. - ➤ Thirty new forensic mental health beds have opened in Columbus as part of (Operation New Hope) to ease a backlog of court-custody patients, with treatment starting last week for the first 10 patients; similar units already operate in Savannah. GPB News
- ➤ Georgia lawmakers have allocated $16.7 million to fund the largest new residency program in the Coastal Empire, which will train 103 medical residents at St. Joseph’s/Candler starting in July 2027 — aiming to ease the region’s physician shortage. WTOC 11
