  • Startup Savannah announced SHE HUSTLES 2026 returns on March 25 at The Clyde Venue with Judge Tammy Stokes as keynote (celebrating women’s leadership and entrepreneurship in Savannah).  The Savannah Tribune
  • A Savannah resident won $20,000 playing Georgia Lottery's Emoti Collect Vacation Riches online on March 1 & the win is one of several prizes that support education funding statewide.  WTOC 11
  • The family of Dr. Linda K. Davis will host a memorial service to celebrate her life on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 3 W Ridge Road as friends & colleagues gather to honor her legacy.  The Savannah Tribune
  • Today, the second annual Chefs + Farmers: A Culinary Experience is held at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, hosted by Forsyth Farmers’ Market and FARM Hospitality Group to support local farmers and boost community access to fresh food, featuring live music and a VIP cocktail reception.  WJCL
  • Soup It Up for Loop It Up returns Saturday, March 7 at the Kehoe Iron Works Building in downtown Savannah. The event—featuring local restaurants, music and a soup contest—will raise funds for programs benefiting over 11,000 children and supporting early literacy, mindfulness and STEAM projects.  The Savannah Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • SCAD announced that 211 alumni, current students and two professors worked on 21 Oscar-nominated films such as 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' and 'Zootopia 2.' The awards show will air live on March 15 on WJCL 22.  WJCL

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Area employers will soon preview key wage, benefits and workforce data at the Industry Council Luncheon on Mar. 10 at Georgia Tech+Savannah. The session, running from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will showcase trends from nearly 60 industrial employers as they adjust compensation strategies to attract and retain workers.  Savannah Chamber of Commerce

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rev. Paul E. Smith announced his candidacy for re-election as District 5 representative on the Savannah-Chatham County Public School Board. The civil rights advocate & former Board Vice President promised to continue supporting free student meals, academic programs, and community involvement, with listening sessions planned soon.  The Savannah Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A ground-penetrating radar survey found over 80 burial anomalies beneath Whitefield Square — confirming long-held beliefs that the park sits on a historic sacred ground. City officials have formed a committee to plan respectful preservation steps for the space.  WJCL
  • Hyundai donated two Ioniq 5 EVs to Savannah's sustainability team on Feb. 26 + the vehicles featuring special Savannah logos will support the city's clean energy goals as confirmed by officials at a council resolution today.  Savannah Morning News
  • Pooler residents opposed the planned warehouse development behind Tom Triplett Park on Monday night because of concerns about impact on the park (and canal) and proper notification for nearby property owners; the city postponed the decision to April 6.  Savannah Morning News

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent UGA study found nearly 85% of black vultures in the state died from avian flu between 2022 and 2023, and experts warn the virus could mutate to affect humans (sparking further research into wildlife health risks).  Savannah Morning News
  • Yesterday, Savannah Bee Company recalled its Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard due to undeclared wheat and soy, which pose a serious allergy risk. Customers with affected jars bearing batch code B1L1360525 should dispose of the product and request a refund.  Savannah Morning News

  • On Feb. 24, Savannah State’s baseball team upset Tampa 7 to 0 at Tiger Field with key hits by Johan Sandoval, Kijani Clarington and Jayden Clark, and the Tigers had earlier bested Kentucky State on Feb. 23 and later took two of three from Morehouse over the weekend.  The Savannah Tribune
