  • SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket is set to launch today from Cape Canaveral at 5:15 a.m. and may be visible in Savannah if viewers look southeast — partly cloudy skies could affect the view.  WJCL

  • The Greenery, Inc. named Darren Davis as branch manager today for its Savannah operations, leveraging his 17+ years of landscaping experience.   • SCAD President Paula Wallace was awarded France’s Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres on Wednesday in New York — a recognition of her work in cultural exchange and arts education that also highlights SCAD Lacoste’s global impact.  WTOC 11

  • On Thursday, Feb. 12, about 1,000 second graders attended the Georgia Day Expo in Savannah—celebrating Georgia’s founding with live demos and hands-on activities that replaced the annual parade last held in 2020.  WJCL
  • On Feb. 12, the Georgia Historical Society hosted its annual Georgia Day Expo at the Alee Temple, where over 1,000 elementary students learned about Georgia's founding through hands-on history demonstrations.   • Savannah officials will finalize security plans for the five-day St. Patrick's Day celebration by investing $161,000 for 120 water barricades (coordinating with the FBI, GBI, and DHS) before the March 17 parade. Organizers will enforce rideshare pick-up zones, ban party buses, and designate lottery-selected food truck spots for crowd control.  WJCL
  • Chatham Emergency Management Agency is urging county residents affected by Hurricanes Debby and Helene to apply for individual assistance today — the program targets those with structural damage and unmet needs after FEMA and insurance support.  Savannah Business Journal
