COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Girl Scouts in Savannah began selling cookies Friday, Feb. 6 to fund troop outings and awards — teaching money management skills. Cookie season runs through early March as girls set up booths at grocery stores and along sidewalks.  WJCL

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Savannah Book Festival drew large crowds on Saturday, Feb. 7, with author talks, book signings and food trucks at several squares. It will end today at 2 p.m. when Leigh Bardugo gives the closing address.  Savannah Morning News

FINANCE NEWS

  • Banks remain open on Valentine's Day since it is not a federal holiday—branches may operate on limited Saturday hours, mainly late morning to early afternoon. Customers can also use digital services to manage their banking needs.  Savannah Morning News

  • A Senate committee approved a bill on Wednesday that would let qualified foreign-trained doctors practice here if they meet strict requirements (to address rural shortages), and the measure now goes to floor review with a decision expected by March 6.  The Current
