  • Tybee Island hosts the annual YMCA Critz Tybee Run Fest on Friday and Saturday with six races & family activities supporting YMCA youth programs. Friday’s Kiddie Run starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce 5K follows at 6 p.m., with additional races on Saturday.  WJCL
  • 73-year-old Michael Jordan from Bloomingdale is preparing to bike 950 miles from Veterans Park to Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day to honor fallen service members and support their families while training over 300 miles weekly and inviting local cyclists to join him for the first few miles.  WJCL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • New details about a boat collision last summer emerged when a tug pushing a barge hit Talmadge Bridge on Aug. 1 at 1:15 p.m.—the crane’s boom miscalculation caused $450,000 in damage and led to a temporary bridge closure for inspection.  WJCL

  • Lieutenant Colonel Ret. Thomas Greene is named Board Chairman of Ariel Savannah Angel Partners today in Savannah. He served as Vice Chair since 2025 and now leads the group amid its growth after investing nearly $25 million in early-stage ventures — replacing former Chairman Carl Francis.  Savannah Business Journal

  • The inaugural Banana Ball Championship League will start Feb. 26 and tour major venues nationwide, featuring former MLB All-Star Jackie Bradley Jr. and Broadway performer Derek Klena + bridging sports with theater in a fresh, playful way.  WTOC 11

  • Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Dongwon Autopart Technology is investing $30 million in a new production facility in Emanuel County near Swainsboro - creating 200 new jobs as hiring begins in 2026.  WJCL

  • Garrison School students will stage a SpongeBob-inspired play this weekend on campus, offering local families a creative and fun performance of the beloved cartoon.  WTOC 11

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Chatham County officials are launching an energy plan to boost efficiency in large municipal buildings (including historic sites in Savannah) and residential areas, inviting locals to complete a five-to-ten-minute survey by Feb. 27 while partnering with local groups for home energy audits and planning an Electric Vehicle Charging Network Plan.  Savannah Morning News

HEALTH NEWS

  • A bat found on Tuesday on a Magnolia Park home porch tested positive for rabies, but officials say there was no human exposure. The vaccinated cat received a booster shot and local health officials urge residents to avoid wild animal contact + secure pet food to discourage wildlife.  WJCL
